On the occasion of the conference on "Multilingualism and equal rights in the EU: the role of sign languages" at the European Parliament in Brussels on 28 September 2016, Ivana Bucko, the newly elected efsli President, and Liese Katschinka, EULITA President, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which will deepen the cooperation between these two European organisations.Read more

was the name of a conference organised by MEP Helga Stevens, the first woman MEP who identifies as a deaf sign language user and a campaigner for the rights of deaf and disabled people. The conference held on 28 September 2016 in the European Parliament was attended by over 1,000 people from across the EU. There was interpretation into all 31 EU sign languages and all 24 official spoken languages.Read more

On 9 June 2016, the European Parliament adopted the regulation, proposed by the Commission, to cut costs and formalities for citizens who need to present a public document in another EU country.
Birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc. have been standardized in many EU countries in recent years. Fortunately, the original proposal for this regulation was not accepted, which would have included several more and sensitive documents, such as company register excerpts, land register excerpts and business contracts. These still require certification.Read more
Almost 140 legal interpreters and translators from 24 countries attended the conference at the Human Rights Court and Council of Europe which preceded the annual General Assembly of EULITA.Read more
